Invisible Stories – By Laurie Cannac and a team of Bangladeshi artists
French puppeteer and director Laurie Cannac, who previously performed several times in Dhaka, has been very inspired by bangladeshi bhut stories for their weird aspects and deep meanings. Created with a wonderfull bangladeshi artistic and technical team, this shows is her tribute to the accuracy of popular wisdom of Bangladesh towards respect to nature, in an ecological tale enlightened by the liveliness, the optimism and deepness of bangladeshi people.
Two scientists, studying the impact of ghosts on everyday life in Dhaka, are well mastering their subject. Until the moment when their subject begins to master them and throws them into a fantastic trip that will lead them to meet wilderness and wisdom of Sundarbans.
Book Launching Ceremony: “Folk Melody of Bangladesh” – by Iftekhar Anwar (Researcher on Notation, transcription and phonetics)
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the much-anticipated book “Folk Melody of Bangladesh,” an anthology of Bangladeshi folk music presented in standard notation. This remarkable work has been meticulously compiled and edited by Mr. Iftekhar Anwar, a renowned researcher specializing in notation, transcription, and phonetics.
The book launch is set to be a highlight of the celebrations marking the 65th Anniversary of Alliance Française de Dhaka. As a comprehensive collection of Bangladesh’s rich folk heritage, this anthology is poised to become a milestone in the country’s music industry. By preserving and standardizing these timeless melodies, “Folk Melody of Bangladesh” ensures that the cultural treasures of our nation can be studied, performed, and appreciated by musicians and scholars around the world.

Orchestration in Bengali song – La chanson bengalie : l’orchestration – by Flaming Acoustics
To commemorate the 65th anniversary, Alliance française de Dhaka and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in Bangladesh will collaborate to host a magnificent orchestra showcasing predominantly Bengali music. The exceptional performers from Flaming Acoustics will exclusively grace this special occasion.

Art Film Festival by FRANÇOIS LEVY-KUENTZ
In celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Alliance Française de Dhaka, we are honored to present an exclusive Art Film Festival featuring the works of the renowned French filmmaker François Lévy-Kuentz. This special event will take place from October 11 and October 12, 2024 at the Alliance Française de Dhaka and the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. François Lévy-Kuentz has dedicated himself to creating monographs on various artists, including Chagall, Pascin, Calder, Mondrian, Dali, and Buñuel, which have garnered accolades at international festivals. A selection of his notable art films will be showcased at Alliance and Dhaka University, accompanied by question-and-answer sessions with him.

This extraordinary concert will take place on October 17, 2024 promises to be a vibrant celebration of cross-cultural collaboration and musical innovation.

Song of Whales – by Afroza Hossain Sara
Song of Whales is a 12 minutes animation film. In this celebration we are having a invited only screening to have a look at the film’s first cut. This film has been supported by Af Dhaka since its development phase.
Song of Jhinuk” is an animated movie currently being created by Afroza Hossain Sara. The film explores the journey of a little girl from a fishing village into a vast ocean world. The film has received several awards and support for this project, including a first prize from the West Meets East Lab and an art grant from the Metis Fund of the French Development Agency, along with assistance from Alliance Française de Dhaka. With her production company, Team Platform, Afroza has successfully completed the first stage of making the film, known as the Development Phase. In this exhibition, Afroza showcases selected paintings, sketches, and research that will give the audience a glimpse into the enchanting world of this film.
