In celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Alliance Française de Dhaka, we are honored to present an exclusive Art Film Festival featuring the works of the renowned French filmmaker François Lévy-Kuentz. This special event will take place from October 11, 12, 14 and 15 2024 at the Alliance Française de Dhaka. François Lévy-Kuentz has dedicated himself to creating monographs on various artists, including Chagall, Pascin, Calder, Mondrian, Dali, and Buñuel, which have garnered accolades at international festivals. A selection of his notable art films will be showcased at Alliance française de Dhaka, accompanied by question-and-answer sessions with him.
François Lévy-Kuentz is acclaimed for his captivating documentaries that explore the lives and works of some of the greatest artists of the 20th century. His films offer deep insights into the world of modern and contemporary art, blending historical narrative with artistic expression to create a unique viewing experience.
Festival Highlights:
Exclusive Screenings: A selection of Lévy-Kuentz’s most celebrated films will be screened, including documentaries on iconic figures such as Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, and Salvador Dalí.
Interactive Sessions: Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions, exploring the intersection of visual arts and filmmaking.
Venue: Screenings and events will be held at the Alliance Française de Dhaka auditorium hall – Nouvelle Vague.

François-LEVY-KUENTZ
François, born in Paris in 1960, is a distinguished writer and documentary filmmaker. He pursued cinema studies at the Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris 3) and gained experience as an assistant director under notable filmmakers such as Marcel Bluwal, Claude Chabrol, Christian de Chalonge, and Victor Vicas. His debut film, “Man Ray, 2bis rue Férou,” released in 1989, marked the beginning of his enduring passion for art, which he explored through approximately fifty short films for the television series “Ramdam” (1990-1993), featuring various artists like Matta, Etienne-Martin, and Robert Doisneau. He also directed several other programs, including “Cercle de Minuit” on France 2 and “Rapp tout,” hosted by Bernard Rapp. In 1994, he launched the weekly show “Aux Arts et cætera” on Paris Première, focusing on the visual arts, which aired for four years. Between 1999 and 2001, he produced two science programs, “Archimède” and “Pi=3.14,” for Arte and France 5. Additionally, François Lévy-Kuentz has authored award-winning monographs on artists such as Chagall and Dali, with his latest work being “American Modern Art, a Secret Weapon of the Cold War” (France 3, 2017). In 2012, he directed “Once upon a time… the marriage of Maria Braun.”
