The Reflection of Endless Mystery
The inauguration ceremony of “The Reflection of Endless Mystery”, the first solo exhibition by Nabaraj Roy, took place in La Galerie of Alliance Francaise de Dhaka (AFD) on September 1, 2023.
Renowned artist Rafiqun Nabi, emeritus professor of the University of Dhaka, was the chief guest at the event. Distinguished Artist Nikhil Ranjan Pal, a Fine Art professor at Rabindra Bharati University, and Professor Nisar Hossain, dean of the Faculty of Fine Art at the University of Dhaka, graced the occasion as special guests.
Nabaraj Roy’s exhibition at AFD features captivating paintings. The “Urban Construction” series presents cityscapes in minimalist forms, “Spiritual Journey” portrays various poses, “Portraying a Farmer Life” emphasizes farmers’ importance, and “Struggle of Civilization” explores ancient societies. “Moonlit Sonata in Urban Horizon” captures moonlit beauty amidst basic cityscapes. Roy’s debut solo exhibition is a treat for art enthusiasts.
Nabaraj Roy
Nabaraj Roy is an emerging artist who completed his BFA from the University of Dhaka, and his MFA from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, India. He said that he is always inspired by nature and the folk art of Bangladesh. His studies in India enabled him to learn abstract art, which is prominent in his work. When asked about his favourite artists, he mentioned Wassily Kandinsky and Ganesh Haloi. He is also a collector of folk arts and crafts of Bangladesh.
