Bengali Traditional & Experimental Music Instruments Exhibition

Exhibiting some collections of philosophical string and rhythmic instruments. This exhibition will cover live music demonstrations, remembrance of the pre-electronic musical setup, and a soothing ambience of traditional folk. Alliance Française de Dhaka will facilitate Obokolpo with their campus hall to put on the exhibits on November 24th, 2024; and the exhibition with related activities will be continued from 25th afternoon till 29th evening.
People of all ages and professions are welcome to visit from 3pm to 9pm. The workshop on ‘Traditional strings’ is only open for young music learners and enthusiasts, which aims to dive deeper into musical expressions. Collaborative instruments used in Bengali folk music like, ektara, dotara, sarinda, dhob, mridanga, and research-based music instruments will be showcased. The venue will be decorated with props and particles associated with folk art practices. Indigenous Bengali music instruments will fill in the gaps, and ages old, restored music instruments and manuscripts will add nostalgic vibes. A seminar led by reputed professors of music, arts and media will enrich the exhibition insights.
This five-day exhibition hopes to celebrate portions of Bengali musical heritage with every attendee. Visitors and guests shall join the music performances, as well perform collaborative music. Short documentaries on the instrument’s development project, and old manuscript recitation will be projected during the exhibition. The inauguration on November 25th evening and the 29th closing will be delighted with the presence of distinguished persona.
