Note from our director

Alliance Française de Dhaka is part of an extensive network of Alliance Françaises worldwide. The Alliance Française has evolved through time into a unique organisation that brings together all its partners in a sense of community and camaraderie. Situated in the iconic area of Dhanmondi, Alliance Française is, above all, a place next door marked by a spirit which animates this part of Dhaka, Dhanmondi, home to many artists, scholars, and musicians. It is where freethinking is fostered, and Rabindranath Tagore, S. M. Sultan, Lalon and other great luminaries' philosophy is cultivated.

La Galerie, the gallery of Alliance Française, holds immense significance as a venue that captures and preserves this vibrant creative energy that permeates the filigreed maze that is Dhaka. It serves as a beacon and a springboard for artists, providing them with opportunities to showcase their work, connect with audiences, and contribute to the dynamic artistic landscape that Dhaka proudly embodies.

The Alliance Française is a grand house which harmoniously combines teaching and culture under its roof. I love to think Alliance Française calms our souls and invites us to the reverie, conviviality and pleasure of being together.

The Gulshan branch of Alliance Française is also an exceptional place, a charming old house with a lovely garden and a rooftop terrace. Today it is also an artist's residence with a guest house, and we are working to develop this residence, offering artists this exceptional space to craft and exhibit their artworks.

I am proud to work for this institution, and I thank my team for their dedication and the quality of their work. They are always willing to help our guests; you will be delighted to meet them.
