International Mother Language Day - অমর একুশে

📢“International Mother Language Day – অমর একুশে

To honor ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি – আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস, Alliance Française de Dhaka proudly presents an exhibition celebrating the beauty of language through Bengali, Arabic, and other diverse scripts and calligraphy fonts. This exhibition is the outcome of the Design & Typography Workshop by students of Alliance Française de Dhaka, showcasing artistic expressions of letters and scripts in various styles.

Centred around the themes of 21st February and Language, the exhibition traces back to a three-month-long workshop that started on December 7, 2024, conducted by artist and illustrator Sabyasachi Hazra. 21 participants of the workshop were trained in the art of typography and calligraphy while also exploring diverse artforms and the works of renowned artists from the Bengal.

One notable instance was witnessing how Bangla, Ranjana, and Devanagari scripts, along with Tibetan, Arabic, and English have evolved over time. Participants also got to see the influence of the masters on contemporary artwork, including on digital illustrations, poster designs and book covers.

This workshop is the first of its kind where a workshop has culminated into an exhibition where the participants’ works have been showcased, opening up the floor to further the practice of typography and calligraphy and other forms of design.
